Famous for the Great Western Railway works, it has today been brought alive at the award-winning museum STEAM - Museum of the Great Western Railway, set in a restored station, has old locomotives and train carriages, including Queen Victoria’s Royal Saloon from 1897.

The Museum of Computing traces the history of computing and digital development. In the Old Town, Swindon Museum and Art Gallery is known for its 20th-century British art collection, plus displays of local fossils. With farm parks, Longleat Adventure and Safari Park and Cotswold Wildlife Park plus adventure playgrounds at both Wilton House and Bowood House and Gardens there are lots of things for families to do here.
