St Andrews Parish Council chose The Ridge Coffee Club as the winner of its annual Community Hero Award.
This award is given to individuals or organisations that have either carried out special or sterling service to the community or achieved something special for the community of the area of St Andrews.
Established in June 2019 as a social club by Lyn and Brian Burrows, they quickly transitioned their purpose to a more constructive one by raising funds for a defibrillator.
In just nine months, their efforts resulted in the successful purchase of the life-saving device and they have since gone on to raise a further £10,000 for Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
Lyn Burrows said: “I feel very privileged to accept this award.
“We have just celebrated our 5th anniversary which we couldn’t have done without the help of our community who regularly attend our coffee mornings.
“A big thank you to the Parish Council and Jean Blake who nominated us. Here’s to the next five years!”
Councillor Vera Tomlinson speaking on behalf of the Parish Council said: “We are delighted to present The Ridge Coffee Club with this year’s Community Award. We are truly impressed by the hard work being done”.
