A car was stopped on the M4, J11 East during Saturday afternoon by both Wiltshire Police and Thames Valley Police.
Officers recovered a large collection of the stolen goods from inside the car and arrested the vehicle’s four occupants.
The vehicle was the seized as the driver had no documents on their person.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “Following reports of a £2,000 shoplifting from a sports store in Swindon.
“The car was stopped by Wiltshire ARV, TVP Joint Operations Unit and TVP Roads Policing on the M4, J11 East.
“A large amount of stolen goods recovered and the four occupants [were] arrested.”
Wiltshire Police have been contacted for more details regarding the shoplifting.
