Ladymead Care Home Hosts Successful Summer Fete and Celebrates 30th Anniversary

Swindon, Wiltshire – Residents, families, staff and members of the local community gathered at Ladymead Care Home in Swindon on Saturday for the home’s annual Summer Fete, which proved to be a great success and marked a very special milestone – the 30th Anniversary of Ladymead’s opening.

The event was formally inaugurated by Dr. John Godfree, Preacher, who was also present when Ladymead first opened its doors three decades ago. Dr. Godfree was joined by the Deputy Mayor of Swindon, who was warmly welcomed by residents and staff before enjoying the afternoon’s celebrations.

Visitors enjoyed a variety of stalls and refreshments, along with entertainment that created a lively and welcoming atmosphere. A highlight of the day was a performance by local entertainer Cally Fraglistic, whose music and energy brought everyone together and had guests clapping and singing along. The fete also provided opportunities for families and residents to socialise with neighbours and visitors, strengthening Ladymead’s close ties with the wider community.

The event was supported by a team of dedicated volunteers and staff, who helped to run stalls, welcome guests and ensure everything ran smoothly. Their efforts were greatly appreciated by all in attendance.

Ladymead Care Home, located on Moormead Road, is a purpose-built home providing both residential and nursing care for older people. Part of the Healthcare Homes group, the home is well known for its welcoming, family-centred environment, where care is tailored to the individual needs of each resident.

Home Manager Byju Vasudevan said the fete was a particularly memorable occasion this year:
“Our Summer Fete is always a highlight of the year, but this one was extra special as we celebrated Ladymead’s 30th Anniversary. It was wonderful to welcome back Dr. John Godfree, who inaugurated our celebration and was also there at the home’s original opening three decades ago. Seeing residents enjoying themselves, families spending time together and the local community showing such great support was heartwarming. We are grateful to the Deputy Mayor for attending, to Cally Fraglistic for the fantastic entertainment, and most importantly to our volunteers and staff, without whom none of this would be possible.

Events like this really do bring people together and reflect the strong sense of community we are proud of here at Ladymead.”

Ladymead Care Home is one of 48 care homes operated by Healthcare Homes across the South and East of England, alongside nine homecare branches, live-in care services and specialist services.
