We joined forces with National Trust’s ‘Swindon Stories’ project to provide a 5-week interactive event for children at our centre, as we know how important it is for our younger guests to stay engaged and experience fun educational experiences during the school holidays. We would encourage any family in the Wiltshire area and beyond to visit the centre this summer and discover a world of imagination through reading”

Anish Harrison, Swindon Hub Manager at The Literacy Trust, said “Swindon Stories is proud to support this wonderful activity, to inspire children to discover the magic of stories and embrace a life-long reading journey. We know the value of activities like this for helping families discover reading can be enjoyed together, boosting parents’ confidence in supporting their child’s literacy, and taking an active role in their learning during the summer months. We also encourage anyone taking part in the Big Read Book Club to go along to any Swindon Library and sign-up for the Summer Reading Challenge too, as this will count towards their reads!”

Our mission is to improve the reading, writing, speaking and listening skills of those who need it most, giving them the best possible chance of success in school, work and life. We run Literacy Hubs and campaigns in communities where low levels of literacy and social mobility are seriously impacting people’s lives. We support schools and early years settings to deliver outstanding literacy provision, and we campaign to make literacy a priority for politicians, businesses and parents.
